The Green Wall of Standard Histories, and other primary sources
It's that time of year again. Or rather, I am slightly behind the times: it has been that time of the past year again, when people make lists of everything related to 2016.
Continuing my habit from 2015, I tracked all the books I read cover-to-cover and finished during 2016 (some were started much earlier). I am happy to report that the total number has gone up! There are twelve books that can be classified as fiction, and some real classics in my list. Continue reading

A few weeks ago a man came from the removal company. Survey... checking how much stuff will actually follow me across the Atlantic Ocean. A visa application has been submitted at the US consulate in Amsterdam, and I have an interview scheduled. It must be true then, that sometime soon I will be moving to the US. When can I safely start to panic?
Before that time comes, there will be some fun at the Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon with my friend and teammate Marj. I can’t wait to get back to the Lake District, after our fantastic training weekend earlier in June.
I am trying to figure out how to keep you up to date with my latest adventures, so bear withme while I make this place my own!

Al enkele weken geleden kwam een man van de verhuisfirma een schatting maken, en eenvisumaanvraag met mijn naam erop ligt bij het consulaat van de VS in Amsterdam, met de datum voor het interview erbij. Blijkbaar zal het dus echt gebeuren, die hele verhuis naar de VS. Wanneer mag ik beginnen panikeren?
Voor die tijd ben ik nog eens in Engeland, in het Lake District. Mijn vriendin en teamgenoot Marj zullen er deelnemen aan de Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon, en na een geweldig trainingsweekend eerder deze maand kan ik niet wachten om er terug te gaan!
En alsof dat nog niet genoeg is, probeer ik nu ook uit te vissen hoe ik jullie het beste kan op de hoogte houden van mijn avonturen. Even geduld dus terwijl ik het hier een beetje inricht!
